Veterans Cemetery Dedication

On Memorial Day 2011, state leaders, supporters and family members of veterans gathered in Newton County for a special dedication of the first evmetery devoted to Mississippi veterans. More than 250 peopled gathered at the site donated by Mississippi State University. It is being called the Arlington of Mississippi for those who served their country and made the ultimate sacrifice. Senator Roger Wicker said, "We dedicate this field in memory of those who've gone before and we pledge ourselves to keep faith with those who've gone before and those who've died."

Mid State Construction was honored to be selected to construct this important project. Attending the ceremony from Mid State were Billy and Frances Ware, Jason Parkes - Project Manager and Chris Winters - Assistant Project Manager.

Leadership Star Award

Please congratulate Tony Head, the 2010 recipient of the Mid State Construction Leadership Star Award.

Tony joined Mid State Construction in 1997 and has been invaluable in bid proposal development and the responses to invitations to bid. His honest relationships with Subcontractors assures Owners of highly competitive responses in all types of markets and in any contract delivery method. His willingness to cooperate with design professionals and Owners to work through demanding budget issues helps to insure high value work and customer satisfaction. His honesty and integrity in all dealings directly reflects the standards Mid State employees should strive for daily.

Much has changed since I first joined the Mid State Construction team way back in 1974. The industry as a whole has witnessed "jaw dropping" advances in materials, tools and techniques. Each day seems to bring a new innovation. As clichéd as it sounds, the more things change the more they stay the same. Science and industry, no matter how hard they try, will never "bottle and sell" pride in craftsmanship, commitment to quality, dedication to cost control and practical management.
